We like turtles! Do you?

It’s turtle season on the coast of Bundaberg! That time of the year when these beautiful sea creatures heave their lumbering bodies up the sandy slopes of Bundaberg’s beaches to lay their eggs. Six to eight weeks later they hatch, and the miniature versions scurry down the dunes and back into the sea. You can witness this, nature in action, between now and the 20th of March 2016. Turtle encounters, led by Queensland Parks & Wildlife rangers, are available now and very affordable – only $28 for a family pass.

If that’s not enough reason to want to visit Bundaberg over this summer, then you need to re-evaluate your priorities, because turtles are awesome. But don’t worry, there’s a ton of stuff to do and see while you’re up there.

Stay at Econo Lodge Park Lane (247 Bourbong Street) and you’ll be based perfectly to go see the turtles, chill out in the botanic gardens and playground, or take in some culture at the local arts festival. You could even make a road trip of it and see how many things you can tick off the “QLD Big Things” map on the way!

Of course, we can’t mention Bundaberg without mentioning the famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery. You can book a tour online for only $13.50 for adults, and as always cheaper for everyone else. So go on, take a trip up north, and have a rum for us! (But keep it away from the turtles; they have enough trouble with those dunes as it is.)
